AGREED! “WHAT KIND OF VICTORY IS IT WHEN SOMEONE IS LEFT DEFEATED?” -GANDHI
THE GAME THAT PROMOTES WORLD PEACE
North shore artist creates board game where “winner” advances world peace.
Steve Benson, 42, Two Harbors, Minnesota announced on Labor Day 2007, that “AGREED! the game that promotes world peace” is finally available to the general public.
“It’s funny to think that I am making money from a game where people read and discuss little quotes on peace, truth, friendship, trust, love and humor.” said Benson. He continued, “I created the game at first as a work of art, but everyone that has played it has urged me to sell copies of it as they’ve found the game to be so compelling.” The game is simple, elegant in design, promotes discussion on many levels and is almost therapeutic in play. Players read, discuss and vote for their favorite quotes from authors and sages such as Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Socrates and many others. The wooden game board resembles a tournament bracket used in sport playoff series. However, instead of teams competing against each other, author’s quotes are paired against another.
It’s a beautiful game board and the quote cards are so powerful that many of the people who purchased the game leave it set out full time. Instructions to help groups of people make a decision or work to consensus agreement are included at no extra charge.
Steve related that his goal is to create a deluxe version of the game for next year that includes 64 authors, sages, poets, philosophers, prophets and peace advocates. “I’d like to have the game mirror the 64 teams in the NCAA Basketball tournament.” He is half way there with the current complete game including 32 authors with 30 quotes from each (960 quotes so far).
